This image presents a sketch of a side profile of a woman in a large, poufy dress. There is also a border placed around the figure, within the confines of the paper. The line work is not bold and distinct, which is a marked contrast from many other images in The Yellow Book, as well as Aubrey Beardsley’s other images. Mme Réjane is wearing heavy, frilly garments, and only her hand, forearm, and foot are exposed. Although minimalist, the lines of the sketch are nice and delicate, and the image was loved by many critics of the time.
